POST 7: Who is a person/expert on your field that you admire?

An expert in economic geography and feminist
that I admire is Linda McDowell.

Linda McDowell born in 1940, is a british economic geographer and academic, describes herself as specialist in ethnography of work and employment.

Her contributions include the broader introduction to gender and geography. Her articles such as "Gender, place and identity" and "Redundant masculinities" were important contributions to feminist geography and gender geographies.

I like her because she was a pioneer in making gender issues known in geography, and it gave strength to the so called feminist geography that shows us how machismo affects from a geographical point of view, even giving voice to social problems such as migration and how this may affect migrant women to a greater extent than migrant men as in her work "Voices of migrant women: talking about life and work in the United Kingdom".
